Club History

Nine years ago, the Urbandale Soccer Club formally started its premier soccer program. With the assistance of British soccer coach, Peter Arch, the program grew quickly.

Three years later, upon the recommendation of Coach Arch, Gary Eyles was hired as the head professional club coach. Since that time, the native of Bristol, England and graduate of Florida Tech University has built the program into one of the top premier soccer clubs in the Midwest.

Upon further expansion, the club hired Matty Smith as a professional coach. Matty is now the director of Coaching for the Johnston Soccer Club. In 1997 Gary welcomed a new assistant, Daryn "Ozzie" White. Ozzie, a native Australian, played professional soccer for several years and served as a coach in England on the Australian Olympic Team. In 2003 Ozzie accepted a position to become the Director of Coaching at the Ankeny Soccer Club. In the fall 2001 season the club hired its fourth professional coach John Sheridan. Coach John "Shedzy" Sheridan now assumes the responsibility of the role of Assistant Director of Coaching.
